November News

October 30, 2006
Hello Chairfriends.
We hope you are doing well. It has been a busy and full fall, lots of shows, fundraisers and visits with old and new friends all across the country. The upcoming months find us digging in and working on
several new projects: a new Wishing Chair CD which we expect to be
out this coming summer, a best of Kiya Heartwood CD featuring songs from her early years with Stealin' Horses as well as her solo
projects, a best of Wishing Chair Songbook which will feature what we consider to be 30 of the best and most playable songs from all six WC CDs and a new WC T-shirt.
We're beginning fundraising for the new CD and we'll be coming up with some fun ways to help get it off the ground:
1. you can of course, pre-buy CDs.
2. we're working on getting an on-line, silent auction together with
Wishing Chair paraphernalia from the past 11 years, posters, early T-shirts, rough mixes, recording notes, photos, etc. That one's a biggy and we'll keep you posted as to when that will be ready to go.
We have a few instruments that we are willing to offer for sale before the auction starts, for individuals who may want to consider them. One is a fretless banjo from the 1940's and the other is a
Guild, hollow body electric guitar, both in excellent condition.
Please contact us if you would like more information; info@wishingchair.com.
3. If you work for, are connected to a non-profit organization, or want to give money to a non-profit this year, you can fund a benefit concert for them, make them money, get us a gig, and get yourself a
tax deduction all at the same time. Everybody wins! Contact us for
further information if you are interested on hearing details.
With the holidays coming up it is our sworn duty to remind you that your support of independent music is what makes it possible for us and thousands of other musicians like us to make a living bringing original, grassroots music to communities like yours all across the country. To that end, all our products will be available on our
website or you can email us directly: info@wishingchair.com. They make great gifts for yourself, family and friends.
CDs, Books (Beginning Songwriting, Teach Yourself to Play Accordion and the upcoming songbook), ChairNotes (blank notecards and cards w/ lyric excerpts inside), ChairWear (embroidered shirts, ballcaps and a new T-shirt coming out soon).
Remember that you can download all of our music at itunes and at emusic. And this is the only way right now that you can get The Ghost of Will Harbut, as it is currently out of print.
Fundraising Info:
With our fundraising for the new CD gearing up, we are making that info available starting now. If you would like to donate in advance to help fund the new CD, we have many options, all of which are
outlined here. Feel
free to print it out and help spread the word.
That's all for now. Hope to see you at a show soon.
Love and light,
Miriam and Kiya
